Word Processing in a K-12 Educational Setting

Word Processing in a K-12 Educational Setting

As a highly qualified educator, I plan to use Word Processing in my school district by enforcing Writing Across the Curriculum.  A number of people, children and adults, believe that Microsoft Word is the only way anyone can key(type) a document. However, Microsoft Word is merely a Word Processing Document.  There are several students that might have had Microsoft Word on their computer for a “trial period.”  In students’ eyes, once the trial period is gone, then they feel as if they do not have to complete the assignment.  Google Docs  is an example of an Online Word Processing Document.  With this, students do not have to worry about not having a way to complete their assignments.  Since, I teach Science, I plan to have my student complete a typed Lab Report that must be saved and emailed to me as an attachment.  This way I can utilize a number of Technology Standards.
