Portfolios in a K-12 Educational Setting

Portfolios in a K-12 Educational Setting

As a highly qualified educator, I plan to use of Portfolios in my school district as an integration tool.  An example of this is Livebinders.  Livebinders is a way that I can showcase my talents and accomplishments as a Digital Portfolio of my professional work.  In my educational community, Portfolios can showcase my students’ work in a safe manner.  Being as educator, I have to keep track of all of my students’ work.  The traditional way is to get a File Folder and put all of their “work samples” in them.  However, in the 21st Century, educators have to implement technology in the classroom by being a facilitator in students’ learning.  In other words, students have to be able to know and use technology based on the higher end of Bloom’s Taxonomy.  If students are truly doing this task, then teachers have to have a way of collecting the information in an orderly and convenient manner.  Portfolios are the key to implementation of that task.
