Types of Online Classrooms

Today, a number of Colleges and Universities are using a variety of “Online Learning Management Systems.” There are several popular “Online Learning Management Systems that Colleges and Universities. Some of these popular systems are as follows: Moodle, Blackboard, Learning Studio, Blackboard Angel Edition, and Propriety--meaning some online system that is created by the school for the use of at that particular school as well. There are also different types of Online Classes. Some classes could be Online, Hybrid, or Web Enhanced. Online Classes are completed orchestrated online. Hybrid Classes are a mixture between online interaction and face-to-face interaction. In order to be successful, both requirements of interactions should be met. Web Enhanced Classes are classes that are generally face-to-face interactions, but has a major online component as a requirement.
One would need to have knowledge of the various types of online classes because it directly affects his or her success within the class. For example, if a student that lived out of town registered for a Hybrid class and did not know how Hybrid classes were conducted, then he or she could affect his or her grade if he or she fails to come to class on the schedule days. When students do not have the knowledge of Online Classes, they might feel overwhelmed because they are in learning the course work as well as, learning the technology aspects of the class.
