More Power To You-The Online Class and Community
“Reflective Practitioner”
In an online class, there are many different factors that are involved other that the individual student. In an online class, it is never simply one person involved, there are several different people, groups, and technology components that are involved. By this alone, one can see that it is not just an individual. By this description alone constitutes a community. A community is a group of “people with common interests living a particular area.” http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/community.
When online students know the individuals and their roles within the community, students tend to be more at ease with their online class, as well as, have them better prepared for class. For example, the Instructor, Advisor, and Tech Support are few people that should be in an Online Community. The Instructor is the immediate contact with an online class when it comes to specific assignments, deadlines, and activities. Advisors are useful when matters arise that the Instructor might not can answer. When it comes to technical issues, the Tech Support is the point of contact when online services on particular websites are down.
