Communicating and networking with Websites, Blogs, and Wikis will affect my learning community in a positive way. Wikis are actual websites that allow multiple users to collaborate on a topic. Websites and Blogs normally have one user, but it is also a form of communication. Most students and teachers today would rather communicate without having the anxiety of actually meeting in person. Communication technologies provide ways for teachers to connect with their students, promote meaningful learning, and extend academics beyond the confines of regular school time. Every teacher has choices to make when creating the type of computer-mediated communication system they intend to use professionally. There are five main reason teachers use electronic communications: (1) teaching strategies, (2) information sharing, (3) community building, (4) publishing student work, and (5) energizing student writing (Maloy, 2011).
